Funatic Happy-Go-Lucky won Best of Winners at the BMDCA National Specialty 2016
This event is a Berner heaven for any breed fancier! Over 1200 entries and a week full of Berner events – not only regular conformation but draft, agility, obedience, rally, herding, tracking, Berner U, Versatility, Top-20, Futurity, Sweepstakes, dinners, health clinics, health auction… And during the week you get to see so many Berners and their people, meet your old friends and make new ones. I can’t even imagine how much work and effort it takes for all the volunteers to put this event together. BMDCA National is one of a kind!
This year’s National was very special and emotional for me in so many ways.
I got to show our lovely veteran girl Ch. Funatic True Blue Moon CD RN NDD BNDD in Versatility Showcase, Veteran Sweepstakes as well as in regular veteran class. True is loved by Christine and Michael Mann (Bluemoon Bernese) and will be 10 years in August 2016. True is a daughter of my beloved Saimi, Ch. Funatic Vanity Fair sired by Ch. Maroussia Sidney. True was 8 months old puppy when I showed her first time at the National Specialty 2007 in Louisville Kentucky and I feel so blessed and lucky I was able to show her 9 years later in veteran classes! True received 3rd placement in Versatility 7 years and older at the age of 9 years 8 months. To be able to show in Versatility the dog has to be a champion and has to have working titles. Although True has always had her own mind she has titles from draft, obedience and rally, too.
Thank you Christine and Michael for letting me show True! I’ll cherish these moments in my heart.
True (9y 8m) took 3rd place in Versatility Showcase 7 years and older bitches
I was also honored to show Colton, Mount Magic’s Quest For Fire, who is dad of our Canadian import Morris. Love this boy so much! Thank you Simone!

And Bea, oh Bea! The Argentinian princess Multi BISS, Multi BIS, Multi Ch. Funatic Happy-Go-Lucky had arrived to Canada a month before the National and finished her Canadian Champion title in two weekends and won two majors in the US with Kim Groves-McLaughlin. I was so excited to see Bea again since I saw her last time in Milan a year earlier. And Rauli hadn’t seen the yellow puppy since she left Finland.
Bea was entered in open class on Friday and what a show she gave us! It was amazing to watch her ringside as Bea showed beautifully with Kim, she won open class and later went Winners Bitch under respected breed specialist Gail Vogel. It was a dream come true for her owners Dalmi & Cora and also myself as a breeder. I still have to pinch myself! Such an honor to win at the National Specialty. On Saturday BOB ring I got to handle Bea since Kim was showing her handsome Jackson. Thank you Dalmi & Kim for letting me show Bea! It meant a world to me! I’ve always loved the US National since the quality of dogs in general is very high but this time in my eyes it was even better than in many years! I felt so honored and proud to be part of it all and to show a dog I bred in that amazing line up and win Best of Winners with Bea under respected breed specialist Lisa Ebnet.
Congrats to all the winners! Such beautiful Bernese each of them!
Congratulations FUNATIC HAPPY-GO-LUCKY for Best Of Winners at the Bernese Mountain Dog Club Of America National Specialty 2016 in Frankenmuth, Michigan.
- Thank you judges Gail Vogel for awarding Bea Winners Bitch and Lisa Ebnet for awarding Best of Winners.
- Thank you Kim Groves-McLaughlin for handling Bea so beautifully and loving her while she is in Canada.
- Thank you Dalmi Sirabo & Cora Riccione for your love and everything you do for Bea. I’m so happy that Dalmi was there to cheer for Bea and wish that Cora and Amelia could have also been there with us!
- And last but not least thank you to my dear friend Seija Valkeapää, owner of Bea’s mom Ch. Funatic Mulberry, for co-breeding Funatic H litter with me.
What an international effort it has been! Bea was born in Finland, sired by a Norwegian import (who is half Finnish), she lives in Argentina and was handled by a Canadian at the US National :)
Bea comes from a litter of 10, out of Ch. Funatic Mulberry (Ch. Goldbear’s Suburban x Ch. Funatic Vanity Fair) sired by Ch. Brilliant Oizzy av Lee Armand (Ch. Fridkullas Triumph x Ch. Kordes Brillant av Lee Armand).
The following weekend after National Bea took her last points to finish her AKC Ch title. So now Bea is AKC & CKC & Intercontinental & Argentina & Chile & Latin America & Andes Champion, Argentina & Uruguay Junior Champion
Congrats Dalmi & Cora!
